Fix #8

It's time for my 8th Stitch Fix. After sending the entire fix back last time, I was more than ready to get another one. This time I asked for fall clothes, lots of layers and some warm and cozy stuff.

If you have not heard about it, Stitch Fix offers styling service and sends you 5 hand picked clothing items that fits the style profile you created. The styling fee is $20.00 but if you keep anything from your fix, you can apply it toward the price of the item you are keeping. If you keep all 5 items, you get a 25% discount.

I was a little sad to see that my stylist Jenelle was not available to style me, but I thought Chelsea did a good job based on what I asked for,

Here is what my little pile of clothes looked at first sight:

The first item I instantly grabbed was this beauty:

BRIXON IVY Lawley Cable Knit Open Cardigan
I had this sweater pinned in a couple of other colors. I was not excited about yet another grey cardigan in my wardrobe (I have a couple of grey cardigans already) but I love the style and the feel of it and I did not hesitate that this was going to be definitely an item I was keeping. I actually wore it to work the next day. I love how unique the pockets are and I really would not mind getting this cardigan in other colors. I saw it in orange and tan.   KEEPING!

41 HAWTHORN Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse
I think I had this pinned too. At first sight I was really excited about the beautiful green color. I also liked the longer length of the top and fun split sides. However, the tab sleeves were driving me nuts. The length of the sleeves was strange to wear unrolled and when I rolled them up, they kepts coming down. I also thought the neck area was a little restrictive for me. I don't like anything too close to my neck and I felt like it could be an issue for me when I wear it all day.Lastly, I thought the quality was not that great for the price. RETURNING

SKIES ARE BLUE Corby Pullover Sweater
I absolutely love this brand and own a lot of their pieces. I was excited when I got tracking number and saw the brand on the list of items I was getting (Yeah I'm bad and I can't stop myself from peeking at what I'm getting). However, I was just not excited about this pullover. I also feel I have enough stripes already . RETURNING

PIXLEY Lori Pencil Skirt
This is such a cute skirt and I am crazy about stripes but it runs a tad small and I could comfortably zip it in the back. I considered requesting a larger size from Stitch Fix but then I remembered I already have a striped skirt, so I decided against it.  RETURNING

41HAWTHORN Queensland Dolman Jersey Top
It's so hard to get good pictures of this top. It has beautiful plum color. I am pretty sure I marked "no dolmans" in my profile but i'm glad my stylist sent me this.  This is such a great basic top to have in your closet. I'm sure it will get a lot of wear this Fall/Winter season.   KEEPING

Overall, I thought that my comments were taken into consideration by the stylist and she did a good job picking up some great layer pieces and they all fell into coze/warm/layer category I asked for. I decided to keep 2 items out of 5 they sent me, which is not bad at all. I'm looking forward to my next fix. I'm hoping to get some dresses to wear to work holiday party.

Fix # 7 Review

I have been doing Stitch Fix for a while now but did not do any reviews. I figured it's time for another one.

For fixes 2-5 I had the same stylist and I felt like she got my style and she read my comments every month and tried to send the items I requested or similar. The last two fixes I got different stylist and I am not sure I like it.

Here is what I got for fix # 7. I asked for mainly work clothes, especially bottoms.

At first glance, I really liked the mixture of colors and patterns.

MARGARET M Emer Printed Cropped Straight Leg Pant
I own a pair of black cropped Emers I received in my second fix and I wear them a lot. I was really excited to get a patterned pair. I was a little surprised because these fit much tighter than the black ones. Also, winter is coming to Windy City, so I'm not sure how long I'd be able to wear them before I freeze to death. I'm still unsure if I'm returning it or not.  UNDECIDED

41 HAWTHORN Leone Dress
This was supposed to be a dress for work. I do not think so. It's much shorter than I like for work and when I raised my hands I could see way more than appropriate for work. Plus the boobage peek-a-boo was not what I normally do for work....
I really liked the color combo and the general idea of the dress but I wish it hit me at the knee at least. RETURNING

PAPERMOON Etsie Dress
This dress looked so promising for work. It had appropriate length and color was so cute. However, it fit very strangely in the chest area, you can see a large part of my bra and I can't even think of what kind of bra I would need to wear to pull it off. I thought of keeping it and wearing with a cardi but I can't justify buying a piece of clothing that can't be worn on its own. RETURNING

MARGARET M Christiana Pencil Skirt
I asked for pencil skirts and I got this one. I loved the color and pattern, but I felt like the fit was not very forgiving. The fabric is pretty thin and stretches well so all my lumps and imperfections were clearly on display. I think I need to stick to more structured pencil skirts. I also thought it was not worth the $78 price tag.  RETURNING

GILLI Kelsey Skirt
At first I thought the pattern was really cute. I was not impressed with quality or fit. I felt like it was making strange noises when I was putting it on. The inside of the skirt had all kinds of threads showing and I just did not want to spend money on something with that poor quality. I'm really surprised though because I do own several pieces from Gilli and I like them a lot.  RETURNING

So after several successful fixes this one might be 0/5 or 1/5 if I decide what to do with the Emers. If I return everything, I will lose the styling fee but I'm ok with it. I'd rather keep something I love than keep something just so I don't lose the fee. Hopefully I can get my old stylist back and get back on track with more successful fixes. Stitch fix # 1 Review

Recently I decided to try Stitch Fix.

The reason I decided to try Stitch fix is because I tend to get quite overwhelmed at the stores and tend to pick the same type of clothes over and over. I wanted to take a big step out of my comfort zone and  wear something that I don't typically wear and I thought it would be fun to have someone pick something they would think would look good on me.

When my first fix came, I was a little overwhelmed and did not look at it with an open mind. I wanted to return it all but kept a necklace so I don't lose the styling fee. I've heard that as you continue getting fixes your stylist gets to know you better and the fixes become better and fit your style better.

Here is my little pile of goodies:

At first I was really surprised at the amount of red I got. Red was the only color I said I don't wear, so it seemed to me that my stylist did not read my profile very carefully.

BRIXON IVY Kinsey Seamed V-Neck Dress in Dark Pink
I was so torn on this dress. I was looking for something for the wedding and my stylist sent this dress thinking it would be good for the occasion. Disregarding the color, the fit was also an issue. I felt like too much of the armpit area was showing. RETURNED

DANIEL RAINN Sandro V-Neck Blouse
Another pinkish, reddish color. I liked it at first sight but when I put it on, it seemed too baggy for me to wear with work pants. I also thought it really did nothing for me as far as shape. RETURNED

RENE C Terah Dress
I usually like Rene C clothes but this dress was just too blah for me. My stylist also send this one with the thought of the wedding but I just did not think it was what I was looking for. It also fit a little too tight on my chest. RETURNED

PIXLEY June Polka Dot Skirt
I absolutely love polka dots and I have a  true weakness for anything with them. I was excited to see this skirt in my fix but for some reason I sent it back. It was a tad tight on me but I'm in process of trying to shed a couple pounds and I should have kept it. I'm going to try and ask for them to send it back to me. RETURNED AND REGRET IT :(

ROMOLO Riviera Sun Rays Necklace
The necklace is different than any statements necklaces I own so I kept it primarily so I don't use the styling fee but it quickly became one of my favorite and most versatile necklaces. KEPT

Even though I sent back almost the entire fix, I was excited to give the service a try and I'm going to continue getting fixes. Hopefully I will start getting something that is more consistent with my style profile. If you are interested in trying it out for yourself, here is my referral link

Nadine West January 2015

Nadine West delivery came pretty early this month. It's always nice to get the pink package filled with one top and two pieces of jewelry. Nadine West is very unique way to shop and a slightly different subscription service than most of the services out there. This is my third Nadine West package. What I really like about Nadine West is that there is no upfront cost for you to get the box. Each month you get one top and two pieces of jewelry. You can try it on and see what you'd like to keep. You keep what you like and send the rest back in the same envelope with the return label created.

Here are the items I received this month.

Simply Mauve-alous Top
 Cost to keep $23.49
Returning
At first I really liked it and thought I would keep it but then I realized it has a Dolman-style sleeves and I am not too crazy about it. I have a couple of Dolman tops, so I think my wardrobe is maxed out right now. I do like the color though, it's more of a heather grey.

Glittering Braid Necklace
Cost to keep $24.99
Returning
As with the shirt, I really liked it at first. I liked the combination of three different color metals. I really liked most of the necklace but did not like the bottom of it and was kind of dissapointed because I really wanted to keep it. I just did not think it looked good with the tassel at the end.

Rose Bouquet Charm Bracelet
Cost to keep $9.99
Returning
This bracelet is cute, I just don't wear a lot of bracelets at work. I feel like they bother me at work when they keep banging on my desk or keyboard while I type.

Final verdict: Another not so good month for me. I don't know if I'm getting too picky or just have too much similar stuff. Looking forward to next month.

Wantable Intimates January 2015

I love getting the Wantable Intimates box every month. Wantable recently revamped their Intimates box and now offer fewer but better quality items, which to me sounds like a great idea. I know some people have an issue with getting fewer items but I'd rather get better quality ones than a ton of average items. Wantable offers 4 different types of boxes - Accessories, Intimates, Makeup and recently introduced Fitness. Here are the goodies I received in my January Wantable Intimates box :

Honeydew Floral Lace and Rayon Tank ($24.00) - really cute tank. It's my second Honeydew piece from Wantable Intimates and one think they have in common is they are really soft.
The one I got has a cute lace back. I like it for layering, especially in winter.

The back lace pattern:

Wade and Belle Hosiery OS Black ($19.9) - I always need simple black tights, so I'm happy to see these in my box. They are supposed to be really comfortable without the feeling of pinching.

Finally MukLuk Slipper Socks S/M  (24.00) - I have seen some other people get these and I was hoping I get them too, so I was really happy to see them in my box. I'm actually wearing them right now, Love them for cold Chicago winter nights. Perfect for lounging.

I was pretty happy with this box. I return my box last month and I was really hoping for a good box this month. I'm definitely keeping this one. I received $$68.00 worth of merchandise for $36.00 subscription fee. I think I got a good deal.
This subscription box is my favorite. Can't wait for the next month.
